Oxford Sandy and Black Pigs

We decided on Oxford Sandy and Blacks as we wanted to keep another local breed but one that would produce some lovely Bacon and Hams not just a pork pig.

We will have Pedigree Oxford Sandy and Black pigs for sale in Winter 2011 and welcome visitors who may be considering keeping Oxfords for breeding, fattening for the freezer, as "clearance experts" for your vegetable patch or as pets please get in touch and will be very pleased to help you establish your herd.

Information on Oxford Sandy and Blacks

Another great starter breed, the Oxford Sandy and Black deserves all the help it can get as its fallen on hard times in recent years. The breed's development is uncertain but some suggest links with the Berkshire and the Tamworth. One great asset, from a beginners point of view is that the breed doesn't put on too much excess fat, meaning that the finishing can be easier to the novice. These pigs are lighter boned than many and colours vary from light sand to dark ginger, with black splodges.
